Synopsis :

Sitting on a window sill, a black cat quietly grooming himself. Hearing a canary singing, he realises he is hungry. So he sets off to track the bird down …

Benshi's review :

This lovely short film has one particularly interesting feature. The characters – two cats and a bird – are animated but in a real-life set. So we see the 2D animated black cat climb across real windows and real building rooves. This combination of two styles of image reinforces the fact that with animation, people can tell any story they want! The black cat is intent on devouring the little canary who is singing in a cage by a window. While cats are renowned for their agility, the journey turns out to be far more tricky than expected … Against the strains of a guitar strummed by another cat, the little black cat crosses the building facades like a ninja. But he will have to be creative to reach his goal, and not allow any obstacles to slow him down. This beautifully simple story is told with humour and rhythm! Will the black cat succeed in catching the canary?
